Based on all 2,413 smartphones and tablets with a repairability class in the EU database EPREL, as of 2 November 2026.
Data and method
- Data: all smartphones and slate tablets with a repairability class in the product group “smartphones and slate tablets” (Regulation (EU) 2023/1669) of the EU database EPREL, retrieved through the public EPREL API. Blocked entries are excluded. Each registration number counts as one device.
- The class A to E follows from the repairability index, a score from 1 to 5 (Annex II of the regulation): A from 4.00, B from 3.35, C from 2.55, D from 1.75, E below. It rates disassembly, fasteners, tools, spare parts, software updates and repair information.
- Shares, averages and medians are our own calculations. “Best” among brands means the highest average repairability index across all devices of a brand, for brands with at least 5 devices. Spellings that differ only in upper and lower case count as one brand (15 cases).
- We do not rate devices and do not change any values. The data comes from the suppliers (manufacturers or importers), who are solely responsible for its accuracy.
- We reload the data every week, so corrections and deletions in EPREL reach the analysis. The analysis is not endorsed by the European Commission.
Class and score do not match in 78 entries
Under Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2023/1669, the class follows from the repairability index. In 78 of 2,413 entries (3%) the registered class does not fit: it is lower in 53 cases and higher in 25. EPREL does not show which value is right. We keep both as registered; the rankings sort by index. Sellers of these devices should compare the label and the product information sheet.
